Foundational Year Programs
All seven colleges in the Faculty of Arts & Science and the Munk School of Global Affairs offer distinctive first-year programs that build community, foster critical thinking and writing skills and develop intellectual independence. Foundational Year Programs (or "Ones") enable first-year students to explore their interests, engage with community, and experience the extraordinary.
One programs typically combine one or more theme-based courses with co-curricular events (e.g. guest lectures) and experiential learning opportunities. All first-year, full-time students in the Faculty of Arts & Science, regardless of college affiliation, are eligible for admission to these programs. All first year, full-time students on the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design are eligible for admission for these programs after the initial deadline of March 16th, 2014 if space permits.
Students are encouraged to consider first the One program in their own college, but may apply to the others or the Munk One, and may apply to more than one "Ones" program. However, students may only accept one offer to a "Ones" program.
